What about April? The Avalon and Ark runs were outstanding. Lots of excellent playing in April. May and June are no slouches either.

Some will say that the playing got looser after they finished the recordings for Live Dead and therefore March makes more sense as a natural break. For me that looser playing sounds sloppy at times and that sloppiness starts in April and carries through the summer of '69. Lots of great shows but i think i prefer '68 to 3/69.

shit, then I might as well say June, for 06-05...

there's a natural break after the Fillmore West shows...Avalon and Avalon are great though...love 04-06 and 04-22 especially...
